Glad to hear that I was not the only one who had trouble staying awake in Mus Hist 101.

Fun homework for you college profs:

When I went to college, way back when, we were required to find some of these oldies and transcribe them into modern notation and then sing these things
in our theory or music history class. Quite a bit of that old stuff was actually very neat. Could make great brass ensemble stuff.
One of our professors visited some old monasteries in Spain, bought some ancient music books made of sheep skin (Boy, does age do a number on you, what
are these books called, anyway?). Beautiful illumination. He sold the individual pages as a fund raiser for one of music sororities. We translated and
transcribed, had fun doing so, and in the process gained a respect and understanding of what our ancestors had to go through to get our art off the ground
(even though it was still in realm of the sacred).
