Yes, there are several EXCELLENT mouthpiece technicians who deliberately make mouthpieces with an uneven or "asymmetrical" facing. The thought is that this style of facing makes a more "complex" sound.

I played on an asymmetrical mouthpiece for ten years. It was slightly more open on the left side.

For a variety of reason, I am now happier playing on a symmetrical facing.
