Just for the record, and I didn't plan it this way, it happened
that I bought a new box of reeds (V12 #3) for my trial. I sanded and
'adjusted' them (which in my case means only balancing them) on one of
the new mouthpieces, not on my old mouthpiece.
After the fact, your advice makes sense. I was just lucky that I
did it your way by accident.
