All I can say is for shame. How can you criticize someone who has had a
career that has lasted over 50 years. Maazel may be no Karajan or

I myself am not a "fan" of Maazel, and I normally would not take such a
position. HOWEVER, you are not a conductor. IMHO, no musician's career
would have such longevity without some validation.

By chance I happened to read this week the poem "De Hollandsche natie" =
(The Dutch Nation) by a certain poet Helmers. In his time, around 1800, =
he was considered to be one of the greatest poets ever, and DHN was =
considered to be his masterpiece. I never read such a lot of crap.

So a long career doesn't mean you're good. Of course I am well aware =
that composing and conducting are two different crafts, but one would =
consider someone who is good in conducting to have a good insight into =
musical qualities - also in his own compositions -.
