Heavens, I'm not arguing that Aristotle was right! I don't think his ideas
on the emotions of keys make much sense, either. I was just pointing out
that this idea, erroneous or not, has been around at least that long. And I
wonder whether composers do sometimes choose modalities based on their
supposed emotional content, even though the composer's perception of that
emotion may not be what the listener actually experiences - indeed, it may
differ from listener to listener.
