Just want to add that this terminology is a lot more common in British
English than American English. Here in the US, many of us would have to
consult a good music dictionary to be sure what each term meant.

Likewise, we in the rest of the English speaking world have to sit and
transpose what all these fractions mean into plain English! (Cultural
differences :)
