Neither Karajan nor Bernstein had much "self-criticism" either, yet both
left lasting, valuable artistic legacies. Just because you're paranoid
doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. Just because many conductors
have egos the size of small planets doesn't mean they aren't still in-
credibly good at what they do.

A musician's abilities as a composer are not correlated to their abilities
as a conductor. What are you talking about?
