A few year's ago on visit to Prague
I was shown a small red book that was not kept
on the shelf with all the others, but hidden
in a bottom drawer. This was Theophil Stengel
und Herbert Gerigk's Lexicon der Juden in der Musik 1943 -
listing banned musicians - conductors - composers

It was a serious moment. I was stunned into silent contemplation
at the enormity of this document. It was so comprehensive.
More than half of the name were familiar.

Here is a small sample: Bauer, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, David, Fuchs,
Fruehling, Gal, Goldschmidt, Hollander, Horovitz, Jadassohn,
Kaminsky, Kauffman, Klemperer, Koppel, Korngold, Krein, Krenek,
Ligeti, Lindner, Loewe, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Meyerbeer, Milhaud,
Moschelles, Mueller, Rubinstein, Reizenstein, Rathaus, Selkes,
Schulhoff, Schoenberg, Tansman, Toch, Walter, Volbach, Weill,
Weinberger, Wellesz, Wolpe, Leo Wurmser, Zemlinsky....

I have since read Erik Levi's 'Music in the Third Reich', MacMillan 1994.
Chapter 3 is entitled "Anti-Semitism".. I hope that helps...
