For the most difficult band piece it has to be the Ingolf Dahl "Sinfonetta".
This piece has a one page tutti clarinet solo at the end of the first
movement where all clarinets (1,2,3) play a unison solo that is just pure
hell - technically, rhythmically, and tuning. Also the second movement has
a huge alto clarinet solo at the end.
