I was just being over-concise -- "blackbird Leys" bus might be my local
(Oxford)
equivalent of "Clapham omnibus", which, again, is where the terribly
ordinary Englishman-in-the-street could be found in London.
It's an even more obscure (?) adaptation of an English journalistic
cliche.
