I like his interpretation of his piece - so many composers can't conduct -
but he could. I am fortunate to have the premiere of the work recorded
with the University of Michigan Band and Creston conducting. My father
played 2nd chair horn in the band - right behind Howard T. Howard (a frosh
that year who graduated from MI and went directly into the Met. as
Principal Horn!).
