I've received some email about this, and I see that I should've
added that "stuffed" is British slang for "pregnant."
My daughter's host mother was deeply concerned about my daughter's
welfare. What would *you* do if an 'exchange student' settled down in
your house and then proved to be a girl who wanted nine months away from
home for.... that sort of reason?
