Greetings to all:
I am one of the nameless lurkers to whom Mr. Pay referred in an earlier posting,
and I take no offense to that. I am, however, disturbed by the recent exchanges
between various members of this List, who are wasting a lot of time and
emotional energy attacking each other for slurs (semantic, not musical) both
real and imagined. I for one have learned a tremendous amount from all the
ladies and gentlemen who post to this List, and I certainly hope that the
combative types among us (perhaps suffering from thin skins and/or delicate
egos) can stop the bickering and concentrate on our common goals: To improve
the state of the clarinet art, and to increase the presence of the clarinet in
the awareness of the public. Neither I nor most of the other readers here give
a rat's arse who said what to whom, we are here to learn how to be better
clarinetists and better musicians (and better ambassadors of the clarinet to the
rest of the world). I am hopeful that none of our regular posters will get so
upset as to leave the list and deprive us of their wisdom (or, if not
necessarily wisdom, at least their opinions!).
