Larry Adler was a tragic case. He was a magnificent harmonica player
and was part of a group called "The Harmonicats." Played anything on
harmonicas. Making a nice living at it, too.

But then the political right began to examine Adler's politial leanings
and it ruined his career. He probably was a communist but most
intelligent people did not feel that he intended to give harmonica
secrets to the Russians, or if he should do so it was necessarily bad
for American security. It was that stupid time in America when
political and universal conformity was considered patriotism.

Adler never recovered from the abuse from the political right and his
career went down the toilet.
