The Patricola Eb is the best Eb on the market, in my opnion. If i had the
money and didn't already have a nice Selmer Series 9, i'd have bought one a
few years ago. You *do* need to try them though, as with any brand, because
some have been duds and others have been absolutely fabulous.
The new Buffet's i've played have nice tones, but lack the projection and
aren't as well in tune. The RC's however are better than the R-13, it seems.
I'd recommend getting the Patricola and then using the extra money to get a
nice mouthpiece like a Greg Smith. Speaking of Greg Smith Eb mouthpieces,
i'm selling mine to make room for my Kaspar that my teacher finally returned
to me after borrowing for a few months. ;-)

I am about to purchase a new Eb Clarinet for our college band program. I
own an R-13 and had thought of ordering a Buffet RC but am curious about the
Patricola Eb.
I realize that I can order one of each, try them, and keep one of them...but
that is a night mare for purchasing agents here at the school.
I have 'heard' that the Patricola is a great horn and I could use the
savings on another purchase. However I saved money buying a Major brand
Soprano Sax a few years ago and later wished I had bought a Yamaha or
Selmer.
