I attempted to post this privately to "Blackwell" but it was rejected.
I probably screwed up the address. Therefore, I'm posting it publicly.

Blackwell suggested that it was refreshing that, this time, I was not
involved in the ongoing flame. I took exception to the remark. Here is
my note.

Personally, I don't think I have ever been involved in a flame on this
list. Arguments, yes. Technical disagreements, yes. Angry
vituperative arguments, hostile unpleasant disagreements, no. Unkind
words to others, no. Very strong statements of my views, yes.

I will make provocative statements, or perhaps better said, statements
that you and others may find provocative, but that is the nature of
serious inquiry.

Now, unless you have an example to give where I was personally involved
in a flame, I would appreciate you clarifying this matter on the list.
