I have a theory about this as well.

If you take the total amount of time you would spend every day lining up your
insignias and use it to practice, the net benefits will be greater overall. .

The same goes (more or less) to figuring out how to stick the reed into your
lever keys for the opening of Daphnis. Doesn't it make more sense to just
practice more rather than risk everything on this trick? Now if you are in
the orchestra and the tempo is faster than the marked mm=50, I can sympathize
with that.
