Probably it's a bad thing to focus too much on other people's
playing and not enough on your own playing, but today I happened to
watch & listen to the Chieftains' broadcast (video) of "Water From the
Well" on public broadcasting.
Only part of this broadcast is woodwind, and none of it is
clarinet, but.... words fail me.... except to say that (IMO) every wind
player should listen to it if they have the opportunity. Perhaps many
of you have already. It's 50% commentary, and none of it is the
'hyper' sort of playing that some audiences demand. It's just....
music.
