I'm no fan of censorship (an issue that rarely comes up here because most of
us restrain ourselves); but I like the mixture of ages and backgrounds on
this list and I'd hate to see parents block their kids from subscribing to a
good information forum because of a few nasty words. Also, once the
vulgarisms start to fly, a general decline in civility swiftly escalates, as
we've seen here, where a regular contributor, who normally doesn't go in for
name-calling, got frustrated enough to call the nuisance poster "a complete
idiot." It takes maturity to ignore such an insult instead of lashing back
with a bigger insult.

Mark is good at dealing with people who can't figure out how to get off the
list. While he's sorting that out, I hope people will cool it, so we don't
provoke an invasion of trolls -- just killfile Octoberteen and anybody who
gets into a slanging match with him or her, or ignore those messages in the
Digest.
