It is possible, unless you have tried several reeds, that you just have a
particularly soft 2 1/2 and a relatively stiff 3, not an unusual situation
with Vandorens. You might want to have him start with the HS* you said you
have, a relatively close facing which should be easier to control, and
which should work well with the stiffer reed.
