Good points Clark,

I would say that the buffing issue is one of "good versus poor" workmanship.
While it may be "slightly" easier to round off unplated keys, this is still
caused by poor buffing technique. Sterling silver is much softer and yet good
technicians routinely buff these types of keys (high end flutes) to a very
sharp point. This is the result of proper buffing speed, wheel selection,
compounds used and attention to proper techniques and equipment maintenance.

Given that the silver plating (instead of nickel) option is being selected by
many players, and is even softer than german silver the issue of proper
repair technique becomes even more important.

Just my .02 cents worth!
