With respect to clarinets becoming blown out, you are correct, Frank,
that the subject has been discussed on this list on a number of
occasions, and over a period of years. There is no concensus on the
matter with one group taking the position that there is no such
phenomenon, and another asserting that it exists. You will find a paper
on the subject in KLARINET archives somewhere and, should you have
trouble, I will send you a copy directly. (I should mention that I
belong to the group that suggests that blow-out is a myth and without
substance, but I am not going to argue that matter here now.)
