In both cases, the Ab can be taken 2-and-2; that is, the top two fingers down
on each hand. The response of this fingering leaves something to be desired,
so in the first instance I'd be tempted to slide from the Eb to the C, but
it's really the best way to handle the second example. For a couple of short
drills on this fingering, see the Rubank Advanced Method, Vol. I, the
Exercises in Fingering, numbers 79 and 80.
