According to several dictionaries of musical terms which I consulted, the
term may be spelled "leggero" or "leggiero." Some give one spelling as
preferred, others prefer the other one. The Harvard Brief Dictionary of
Music says that "leggiero" is an obsolete spelling of the current Italian
word, "leggero." But after all, when have we as musicians ever been
concerned because we were using obsolete or otherwise obscure or arcane
words?
