I have been going through some music I have had since early college days and
I came across the Johann Stamitz Concerto in Bb Major for clarinet &
strings, arr. for clarinet and piano by Peter Gradenwitz. To be perfectly
honest, at the time, I was forced (as were all of that studio's students) to
play this piece in a competition. I absolutely hated it and swore never to
ever play it again. However, my curiosity has gotten the better of me, and
I am wondering a number of things.
First of all, are there better editions out there (somehow, I suspect there
are).
Secondly, I would be interested in reading about anyone's experiences
performing this piece. I suspect it may actually be a decent piece of
music.
I have the distinct feeling someone will confirm my suspicions....
