I don't think I'd want to bet on those odds, either. I've seen some
drastic manufacturing whoopsies, including a neighbor child's trumpet
shipped *without valves*.

....this is off-topic, but once when I was sent to Australia on a
sales trip, I happened to be standing at a reception desk when a large
Xerox machine was delivered by two Xerox technicians.
I was kept waiting in the lobby because the arrival and set-up of
this new state-of-the-art machine was a big event, and the purchasing
agent was more interested in the machine than he was in me.
Twenty minutes later, half-a-dozen employees came out into the
lobby, laughing their heads off and saying to each other, "Those
Americans !!!!! Can you believe it ?!?!? How do they survive?"
It turned out that the huge machine (maybe 8 feet long and 4 feet
high) was, in fact, an empty metal box with no machinery inside it of
any sort. I never saw the Xerox people leave the building. They may
have sneaked out the back door.
When I sat down (finally) in front of the purchasing agent's desk,
he looked at me with a somewhat evil grin and said: "So, mate, you're
an American?" I knew by then what the commotion and his grin were
about, and I wanted to make an appropriate reply that wouldn't lump me
together with the Xerox folks.
The best I could come up with was: "Well, not _that_ America, sir."
