As I said, I had calipers. I measured at the top and bottom of the upper
main joint, and since those numbers seemed to agree with KNOWN dimensions
on a couple of them, I assumed that the figures would be valid or at least
consistent for the others. The top and bottom measurements tended to be
either identical or very close to the same for each instrument.
