Perhaps we have created two different threads now?

The original question (I think) was whether a student horn can be
reworked into a 'professional' horn, such that it becomes a better
instrument than it was originally (when brand new).
Now we're beginning to discuss whether an old horn can be restored
to its original condition, which is a different question; and we're
nibbling at the edges of the dreaded 'blown out' debate.

Two different threads.
