Sorry for responding late. Silicon greases are less likely to melt in hot
weather. They come in all kinds of viscosities and are available from your
car repair, as grease for flies (fly-dressing) in fishing-tackle shops, in
labs as glass sealants and in myny other places. They render the cork water
repellent, are chemically inert and do not decompose. Use sparingly.
