And they're right - not only Coda, but many, many other companies that
target a relatively small market say the same thing. It costs a lot of money
to make a new version compatible with an older one, especially those that
rely on advanced features. Most of my more complex Excel & Word 2000 files
will not convert back to Excel & Word 95 without significant (and sometimes
fatal) loss, and back one rev (to 98) causes somewhat less to loose
formatting.
And that's with a product that sells literally 10s if not 100s of millions
of copies.
Mark Charette@-----.org, who's written a lot of CAD & analysis programs in
his day that would not back convert - unless you think that converting a
NURB surface back to something that looks like IGES copious data a
conversion ...
