I somtimes am called upon to double on eefer and I also use a Noblet
with the mouthpiece that was included with the horn(a Leblanc I believe).
It is not my instrument - they loan it to me when they need a part played.
This horn tunes well up to the D above the staff. After that, I used Tom
Ridenour's book of clarinet fingerings and alot of experimentation to
discover which of the many alternative altissimo fingerings helped to tune
that upper register.
BTW, I'm to play the eefer part in Berlioz Symphony Fantastique this
fall. The conductor says its a fun part, but I haven't seen it yet.
