I'm surprised that anyone would feel this way. Although everyone has his/her
own preference, the new Selmers are fantastic instruments. I just had my
repairman do some work on mine. Over the years, he often has grumbled about
the lousy mechanisms and poorly thought out machinery of the low C horns.
After spending some time with this horn he was very complimentary about
Selmer's well designed and executed design. He stated that it was a pleasure
to work on this instrument.

Regarding Brannen, I imagine that many would wish to be so busy as to be
able to turn down work. A few years back a very good friend who lives in New
Jersey just across from New York City told me that he had called Brannen
about having some work done and his request was refused by Brannen. When he
inquired why, Brannen told him that he had recently had problems with some
New York players and was no longer accepting work from this region.
