Hello all!

There is an interesting piece of clarinet-related gossip floating around
Savyonet, the Gilbert & Sullivan list I belong to, in relation to the
performance of Iolanthe at the Proms last week. Perhaps our British listers
here can supply us with more info. Here is what they are saying:

>The start of the Act 1 Finale was rather marred by a clarinet playing a
> whole phrase out of key. I can only assume he picked up the wrong instrument
> by mistake, but it was very noticeable! It was the underscoring to the "I
think >I heard him say..." bit. (Albert Hall, TV recording, and live on Radio
3 - the >"serious" channel). I fancy it was slightly less noticeable on the
Radio 3 >broadcast.

Anybody know the whole story?
