Don't fall into the "that's good enough" mentality on these.

It's unfair for me to quote my instructor out of context. She had
a valid reason for giving me the following advice, given the situation
of the moment. But when I was struggling with my fingers and doing
poorly, her advice was:

"Just play the percentages and move on, Bill."

It happened that I was thinking to myself at that particular
moment, "What if I did this during a performance!?" -- which to me often
means a stage in Las Vegas -- and the tone of her voice reminded me of a
croupier's patter: "Play the odds and throw again!"

We all know who *those* odds favor!

So I burst out laughing with the mouthpiece still in my mouth, felt
like I was going to swallow it for a moment, and it took me 5 minutes to
recover.
....oh well, you had to be there....

Thanks,
Bill
