I think I have an even better idea. Get a good bottle of wine, and use the
cork to make a thumb rest. Seriously, the cork in wine bottles is generally
very good quality. You could remove the thin piece of cork that may already
be glued to your existing thumb rest, replace it with a large piece of cork
and shape it any way you want. Just don't try this too soon after polishing
off the bottle of wine!

Following my plan above, if you are careful about it, you can buy a good
wine for less than $10 per bottle. Sell the thumb rest for $10 plus
shipping, and you get the wine for free!
