It's a small matter, but I believe that "thumb rest" refers to the
piece of metal which every clarinet has. You are describing a "thumb
rest cushion."

If you like a thicker cushion, Yamaha (and perhaps other companies)
makes one that is about 1/8" on one side and 3/8" on the other side.
Therefore you can move your thumb either 1/8" or 3/8", depending on
which way you use it. Most music stores have them. $5-$6 apiece.
