Yes it is possible that you could sustain damage to your hand and/or finger,
but the likelihood is very slim. I have had many surgeries to hands,
elbows, mouth and face without having any lasting difficulties. Surgical
outcomes have improved tremendously in the last decade. Hope this relieves
your anxiety a little.
