In today's NY Times (8/28), two new books are reviewed that deal
exclusively with klezmer, and the problem that faces anyone interested
in this subject is the difference between klezmer as a musical style and
klezmer a a particular kind of musician.

The books are "The Essential Klezmer," by Seth Rogovoy, Algonquin Books,
%15.95, and "Klezmer! Jewish Music, From Old World to Our World," by
Henry Sapoznik, Schirmer Books, $29.95.

You can read these reviews on the NY Times web site and you can
generally get on for 30 days as a trial period.
