You bet he was a pro. Remember that skill is never defined by your tools
but how well you use them. Actually this type of person is not merely a pro
but a true artisan. I bet he has been doing this work for a long time
(several decades perhaps?). Although you occasionally see a young person
this skilled, it is rare.
