Subj: [kl] red plastic mouthpiece?

Re. the black plastic mouthpiece that's really dark red when held up to
strong light.... When I mentioned it to my husband, Kevin said, "There's no
such thing as black plastic." He says it's all some color or other, usually
red. With a strong enough back-light, apparently any mouthpiece will refract
a color, even though it reflects black! Most of my mpcs are hard rubber, but
this afternoon, I fished out all my plastic clarinet and sax mouthpieces and
took a look with the brightest light we've got. Only two looked black. The
others refracted dark red, brownish red or purple. No blues, no greens.
