The carpenter who redid our kitchen used two small, wimpy
looking black and decker drills. He explained that they
were lightweight, so he could pack two or three in his box
and not have to change drill bits and not have a lot of
extra weight for power he didn't need. Was this guy a pro?
I watched him rip (i.e. cut parallel to the grain) 1/4 inch
off 8 foot lengths of wood trim using a hand saw. Then one
lick with a hand plane and the trim was perfect. All in
less time than I would have spent messing with a table saw
to get it set up just right -- never mind that I wouldn't
pull it right and would end up with a thin section and then,
once I ran it all through a planer (to get it smooth, I
would end up with the wrong thickness, etc. He was
awesome..
