That's where Buffet was so brilliant with the introduction of the Greenline
instruments. Their grenadilla-filled plastic allows the customer to think,
rightly or wrongly, "Well, it is REALLY WOOD," thus overcoming the
resistance by doing an end run AROUND it. With that out of the way, the
customer can then judge the instrument on its own merits, regardless of the
composition and whether or not it makes any difference to the sound.

It probably happens because the marketing people do not get involved until
AFTER the engineers have already gone too far in the development to stop.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
