This subject comes up once in a while, so ...

I strip anything other than text out of Klarinet messages before they're
re-sent. Since they're sent to a Linux box, they're always treated as text
files and would have a heck of a time modifying anything on that box (I use
qmail, a replacement for sendmail, which is significantly more secure than
sendmail). ezmlm, our mailing list management software, is configured to
strip out various and sundry attachments and "HTML-only" mail. That causes
people grief once in a while (if their mail agent is configured to send HTML
mail then the mailing list software will strip the entire message out) but
it does keep mischievious attachments like worms & virii from being
propagated.
