Subj: [kl] red plastic mouthpiece?
Date: Fri, 25 Aug 2000 16:54:37 -0400

I'm restoring an old E. Lerue wooden clarinet that is probably in A. I think
I asked about Lerue when I first bought it and got no answers (they'd still
be welcome, if anyone knows anything about Lerue). However, I just noticed
when I began cleaning it up that the mouthpiece, which is plastic, isn't
black. With strong back-light, it's dark wine red, translucent and somewhat
swirly. There are no maker markings on it and there is no indication of
country of origin. The only markings are ligature placement guidelines. Any
idea what this is?

Thanks--
Lelia
