The Legere reed is made of plastic, Tony. > Neil

Stupid of me Neil,
I had read the posts a couple of months ago and in the intervening period,
and due to the fact that I`ve never used plastic reeds, nothing was further
from my mind when replying to the boiling water treatment. However, do you
think this method would work for students who don`t practice?!?! A quick DIP
would work wonders, d`you reckon?
Ah well - - perhaps not. The parents` might complain a bit.
Best,
Tony W.

P.S. Plastic reeds seem to be a rather good experiment - BUT if it is tricky
to "hone" it to one`s own "strength",
is that not a disincentive, let alone counter productive to one`s sound, to
not take advantage of the many different ways possible to "perfect" the
normal cane reed? Just a thought.
