It was quite a surprise to me to see that on this list some non-Dutch, =
non-Flamish people with obvously an American background knew a little =
Dutch. My surprise grwe even more when I had my first telephone contact =
with David Glenn: he addressed me in an excellent Dutch. It seems there =
has been an American ambassador in Moscow, who even after 25 years of =
service in that city didn't know the slightest little bit of the Russian =
language, nor even was able to read the kyrillic alfabet ... !

Now I learn Neil Leupold also is able to understand at least the written =
Dutch. Neil sounds American to me, Leupold sounds like Germany or =
Austria, so I started to wonder "Neil, who are you? Why did you learn =
Dutch?" And of course: "Are there other non-Dutch, non-Flamish people on =
this list, that know Dutch?"

I know it has little to do with our main subject, I just wonder.

Rien
