As one who has done it successfully, it IS possible to clip a Legere reed
successfully. You must, of course, use a sharp reed clipper. (My 30 year old
whatever did fine, however). I took off less than 1/2 mm from the tip. I did
this about 6 months ago, I still have the reed and do play on it
occassionally.

For those who find the 3 1/2's too soft and the 4's too hard, Legere does
make a 3 3/4. They are not generally available in the states. (I have a very
few here for sale.)
