You would think that this plastic sleeve would alter the tone perceptibly,
assuming you believe that the roughness/grain, absorbtion properties, etc.
of wood are significant factors in its superiority, not to mention that
there is likely a damping/alteration of vibration caused by the joining of
unlike materials. Or maybe it really DOESN'T make a difference?
