Subj: [kl] Stiffening up a Legere
Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2000 21:47:45 -0400

Which list member was it who prescribed a method for making a Legere
reed a little stiffer, and what exactly did he say? I believe it was
one of you helpful Brits out there. I remember that it involved dip-
ping the reed to a very specific shallow depth into a pot of boiling
water for a very specific short interval of time (e.g.; a second or
less). I'd like to know for sure, because I need to try that little
experiment on my current plastic marvel. I didn't heed everybody's
recommendation to get my Legere a half-strength harder than my usual
Vandoren. I'm not so sure they *make* a 4.5 Legere, and if I can
make this 4 work, it would be very nice indeed.

Help if you can! :-)

Thanks,
Neil
