Bill, I've been working with commercial manufacturers of many different
things for a very long time now, and I've found that if there isn't some
commercial reason to investigate, the manufacturers won't - at least not
directly. They donate money to universities instead for that kind of
research.

If they _do_ experiment and find that something is commercially viable, it
may take many years before the results are public. They may also find out
that it is too expensive to manufacture, but letting the results be known
can backfire even then - everyone _says_ they want one, but no one buys one.

I find your capitalization above very interesting.
